When did you begin your career in the mortgage industry?
I started working in the mortgage industry 5 years ago, but I’ve been a broker for over 15 years.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not working with your clients?
I love spending time with my 8-year old daughter (who’s going on 20), Isabella, and my partner, Kayleigh. The three of us are committed to becoming better golfers, so we’ve been hitting the Links at Brunello a fair bit this summer. It’s one tough course!
You can also typically find me anywhere the sun is shining. Favourites are the family cottage in New Brunswick, our backyard, the Westmount playground shooting hoops with Isabella, or anywhere with palm trees!
What’s your favourite thing about working in the mortgage industry?
It sounds cliché, but it’s the truth: I love making our clients’ dreams come true. The best days are the ones when I get to tell a client they’ve been approved – especially if they thought an approval wasn’t within the realm of possible. Helping people is why I joined this industry; it’s what motivates me.
Examples of situations I really enjoy are working with a first-time buyer who didn’t realize they could qualify for a mortgage, or self-employed business owners who are concerned they can’t get a mortgage because of how they claim their income.
I also like working with seasoned real estate investors who see a great opportunity and want to seize it. These situations are exciting because the pace is quick, and there can be a lot at stake.
Do you work with a particular clientele?
We work with people in all situations. First time buyers, seasoned buyers, high net worth, low net worth, strong credit, bruised credit, self-employed, salaried, Canadian, new-to-Canada, large-scale investors, and starting investors…literally everyone!
We also have an extensive network of trusted legal, real estate, insurance, financial planning and accounting professionals that we’ve worked with for many years. If upon meeting with a client, we realize their situation is better suited to another advisor, we will always connect them with the right professional.
We always ask our clients to tell us about their dream home. Let’s hear about your dream home…what would it be like?
My dream home would be in the city, because my family and I love being close to the action. It would be in an area with lots of parks, restaurants and amenities. It would be contemporary, with lots of sunlight, and open space for entertaining friends and our large extended family.
We’d have a pool in the backyard (not because it’s a good investment, just because I want one!), an outdoor kitchen so I can BBQ even more, and lots of space for Isabella and her friends to play.
We’d live at the end of a cul-de-sac and have awesome neighbours who enjoy drinking margaritas and hanging out at our pool in the summer!
