When did you begin your career in the Mortgage Industry?
I started in the financial services in 1976 and became a fulltime Mortgage Broker in 1994.
I was one of the first brokers in the Halifax area. Things have changed quite a bit.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you are not working with your clients?
I love any excuse to drive my convertible along the coastline or back country roads with my wife, Susan.
I also love doing the opposite…putting on my sneakers and walking throughout my neighbourhood. I’m an early bird, so you’ll most likely see me in the morning. If you happen to pass me, give me a honk and make sure I’m still kicking! Better still, drive me to the coffee shop and so I can treat us to a large box of Timbits!
Other than that, my favourite way to relax is by reading on our porch in the summer or in front of the fireplace with a single malt in the winter. And I am waiting for the Leaf’s to win the cup!
What’s your favourite thing about working in the Mortgage Industry?
I really love meeting people and really love when they find the home of their dreams, especially the first home. I may see them at the grocery store a few months later and it’s still a warm and fuzzy feeling. We may chat about a kitchen re-model or paint colours. My motto is ‘Happy Wife, Happy Life’.
Do you work with a particular clientele?
I prefer them to have a pulse, but otherwise, no preference. I try my best to help everyone.
We always ask our clients to tell us about dream home. Let’s hear about your dream home…what would it be like?
Susan and I are Newfoundlanders, so it would definitely be on the water, outside the city, with lots of land for gardening, Susan’s She Shed and entertaining friends.
